The UN Permanent Representative commented on Turkmenistan's climate initiative

In an interview with the “Turkmenistan” newspaper, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Xiaojun Grace Wang stated that Turkmenistan's initiative to establish a regional center for climate change technologies in Central Asia has great potential.

She said the center could serve as a hub for science, policy, financial aid, and innovation, and could contribute to accelerating the development of practical solutions on issues such as climate change adaptation, water management, renewable energy, and ecosystem protection.

The UN Coordinator also noted that the United Nations supports Turkmenistan's leadership in developing cooperation in the Caspian region, emphasizing that no country can solve the complex problems facing the region on its own. She reminded that the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea and the Tehran Convention serve as the legal basis for joint action, and also recalled the UN General Assembly resolution "2028 - International Year of Law" adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan.
