Turkmenistan and PETRONAS Çarigali's long-term partnership is bearing fruit

We previously reported that a new influx of natural gas had been obtained at the “Magtymguly” field, located within the “Toplum-1” contract area in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

This success in hydrocarbon production is the result of fruitful cooperation between the State Concern “Turkmennebit” and the Malaysian company “PETRONAS Çarigali”, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026.

During this period, exemplary infrastructure was created in the Caspian Sea and coastal zone: five modern platforms were built and approximately 40 exploration, appraisal, and production wells were drilled, according to the website tngizt.gov.tm.

As a result of this joint work, more than 44 billion cubic meters of gas and 16 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons were produced here, and a large complex of facilities, including a gas processing plant and an onshore gas terminal, was put into operation.

Initial well development is currently ongoing, with further growth in production expected in the future. Development of offshore blocks 19 and 20 in the Caspian Sea is also planned, as well as 2D seismic surveys at blocks 11, 12, 13, and 14, the source notes.
