One of Turkmenistan's most promising young tennis players, Ali Geldiyev, will compete for the first time in the Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault Qualification for West and Central Asia international tournament, which will be held from August 17 to 22 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, according to the online newspaper "Golden Age."

The competition will serve as a regional qualifying stage for tennis players from Central and Western Asia. The top finishers will qualify for the Roland-Garros Junior Series Finals in October in Japan, where tickets to the 2027 Roland Garros Junior Series will be awarded.

The 14-year-old Turkmen athlete earned the right to compete in Almaty thanks to his international and Asian rankings.

Geldiyev's first major international success came in October 2024 at the 3rd ATF U14 Asian Junior Tournament in Doha, where the then 12-year-old athlete won both the singles and doubles titles. In 2025, he became one of the leaders of the Turkmenistan junior team at the ITF World Junior U14 preliminary stage in Bahrain, winning all his singles matches and helping the team achieve its best result in the country's history at this competition. Later that year, the tennis player again won titles in singles and doubles at the ATF 14&Under tournament in Thailand.

In March 2026, Geldiyev helped the Turkmenistan national team reach the Junior Davis Cup U16 qualifying finals for the first time in history. Two months later, he became the Turkmenistan men's champion at age 14, setting a record as the youngest winner of the national championship.

The athlete trains in Ashgabat under the guidance of Meylis Orazmuhammedov and Yuri Rogusskiy. He began playing tennis at the Turkmenabad Children's and Youth Sports School No. 9 under the guidance of Babamurat Mamatrasulov.
