In Thailand, a teenager opened fire at a school after killing his relatives. Police say seven people were killed, including five teachers, The Telegraph reports.

The incident occurred on Friday at Debsirin Secondary School in Bangkok's Nonthaburi district, which serves approximately 3000 students. According to police, the attacker—a ninth-grade student, believed to be 13 or 14 years old—first shot his grandparents and then fired 26 shots on school grounds using his grandfather's 9mm pistol.

The shooting left five teachers dead and at least 30 others injured, nine of whom are in critical condition. The attacker committed suicide at the scene.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the shooting continued intermittently, and hundreds of students panicked and fled the building, gathering in the school courtyard. One rescuer reported finding a dead teacher and a wounded teacher before seeing the shooter's body.

Acquaintances of the teenager, interviewed by the media, described him as a withdrawn and "problem" student, interested in weapons and bullied by his peers.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and stated that what happened should not have happened, emphasizing that it is precisely such tragedies that justify the strict ban on firearms ownership in the country.

This is the second school shooting in Thailand this year: in February, a teacher was killed and a student was injured in Hat Yai County in the south of the country. Last July, an attack on a food market in Bangkok left five people and the attacker dead.
