The CIS youth chess teams will compete in the sixth Open International Mikhail Botvinnik World Champion Cup in Moscow. The tournament will take place from August 11 to 18 and is organized by the Association of Chess Federations with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States (IFHC).

According to the IGF press service, teams from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan will participate in the competition. The tournament will be held in a round-robin format over nine rounds with a classic time control of 90 minutes per game, with a 30-second increment per move, starting from the first. All games will be streamed online.

Each team is led by a captain and grandmaster, and includes three boys and a girl under 14 years old. The captains will play simultaneous exhibitions with a clock against young opponents from other teams, with the captain and team members' points combined.
