From August 4 to 20, joint training camps of the Turkmenistan national cycling team and the Abu Dhabi (UAE) cycling club are taking place in Ashgabat.
“Abu Dhabi” Cycling Club coach Fahd Khoch, who is in the Turkmen capital for a training camp, praised the local cycling infrastructure, particularly the indoor cycling track, which meets Olympic standards.
According to the specialist, he has been involved in cycling since an early age—his professional career began in 1985. Over decades of training, competitions, and victories, he accumulated experience that later developed into a coaching calling: today, he is preparing a new generation of highly successful cyclists.
Fahd Khoch noted that Turkmenistan left a deep impression on him as a modern and athletically developed country. The coach was particularly impressed by the indoor cycling track, which fully meets Olympic requirements.
"The local track surface and all the infrastructure are ideal for professional training. The speed you can develop here, the ideal bank angle, and the overall quality of the surface allow you to train at the very top of your abilities," the coach emphasized.
He also added that he was pleased to see the scale with which the country was investing resources in the development of cycling.
As previously reported, the Abu Dhabi delegation consists of 28 people, while the Turkmen side is represented by 15 athletes under the guidance of head coach Kakabay Atayev. During the training camp, the cyclists will cover approximately 1270 kilometers on the road, and six training sessions and three seminars are planned on the Olympic village cycling track. After completing their training camp, the Turkmenistan team will travel to the Asian Track Racing Cup in Thailand (August 28–30), and the main start of the season will be the Asian Games in Japan (September 29 – October 2).
