The Turkmenistan U17 team was placed in the second basket of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying draw

The Turkmenistan national youth football team has been placed in the second basket ahead of the draw for the 2027 AFC U17 Cup qualifying tournament. The draw ceremony will take place on August 27.

The final stage of the tournament will be held in Uzbekistan from May 12 to 29, 2027. Nine teams have already secured their spots in the final stage: the tournament hosts, Uzbekistan, and the eight strongest teams from the 2026 U17 Asian Cup: Australia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Japan, China, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, and Qatar.

The remaining seven spots will be awarded through a qualifying round, the only stage of which will take place from November 8 to 20, 2026.

Following the draw on August 27, the 35 teams will be divided into seven groups. The group winners will advance to the final tournament.

The Turkmenistan team, having ended up in the second basket, is guaranteed not to meet in the same group with the other teams from the same basket – the teams of Malaysia, Iraq, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Kuwait and Laos.

Pot 1 included teams from Yemen, Thailand, Indonesia, the UAE, India, Oman, and Iran. Pot 3 included teams from Afghanistan, Syria, Bahrain, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong (China), and Palestine. Pot 4 included teams from Pakistan, Mongolia, Singapore, Lebanon, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, and Bhutan. Pot 5 included teams from Cambodia, Macau, Brunei, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Guam.
