On the night of July 24, Georgia experienced a massive power outage that affected virtually the entire country, inbusiness.kz reports, citing Deutsche Welle.

Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Telavi, Borjomi, Bakuriani, Zugdidi, and several other cities were left without power. Due to the power outage, pumping stations automatically shut down, prompting residents of Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta to be warned of possible water supply disruptions. Georgian Water and Power confirmed that the outage affected the entire country.

Reports spread on social media that the accident was caused by a fault in a high-voltage power line connecting the Georgian and Turkish power grids. The Georgian State Grid denied these reports, stating that the circulating version was untrue. The exact cause of the outage remained unclear at the time of publication. The company reported that specialists were working to restore power as quickly as possible. By the time of publication, power had already been restored to most areas of Tbilisi.
