Specialists at the Arkadag Multidisciplinary Hospital performed a series of complex surgical procedures for the first time in Turkmenistan, including kidney transplants on 13 patients who are currently continuing to lead active lives. This was reported by the head of the Arkadag city Health Department, Saparmurat Annamuhamedov, in an article published in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

According to him, in the field of traumatology and orthopedics, total shoulder replacement surgeries were also performed for the first time in the country. Work continues in hospitals and city centers to introduce new surgical techniques, mastered by specialists during their international training.

Complex surgeries have become possible thanks to the equipping of Arkadag's medical facilities with modern equipment from leading global manufacturers, as well as a program to exchange experience with foreign specialists. A Coordination Center has been established within the City Health Department, responsible for cooperation with foreign doctors and researchers, primarily from Germany. Within the framework of this collaboration, Turkmen doctors undergo internships at European medical centers and, together with their foreign colleagues, introduce new treatment and surgical methods. The Turkmen-German Medical Forum is held regularly.

Some of the operations, including surgical treatment at the Multidisciplinary Hospital and the Maternal and Child Health Center, are funded by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. The foundation also provides rehabilitation treatment for children from Arkadag, Ashgabat, and other regions of the country at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center, followed by inpatient rehabilitation at the Maternal and Child Health Center.

In addition to free medical services guaranteed by the state, healthcare facilities in Arkadag have introduced paid services, and insured citizens enjoy the benefits of state voluntary health insurance.

The multidisciplinary hospital is among seven healthcare facilities opened in Arkadag on June 29, 2023. In addition, the city has the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center, an Oncology Center, a Maternal and Child Health Center, an Emergency Center, a Health Center, and a Sanitary and Epidemiological Service. The Emergency Care Center has created the first centralized emergency services calling system, “123,” in the country.
