Iran has appointed a new consul general in Mary

Seyed Mostafa Hosseinipour has been appointed Iran's new Consul General in Mary. Before departing, the diplomat met with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who discussed the consulate's priorities, according to a report on Page X of the Iranian government.

During the conversation, Araghchi emphasized the importance of Iranian-Turkmen relations and noted the need to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the economic, transit, and cultural spheres.

Iran and Turkmenistan share a long border and have been developing bilateral cooperation for many years in areas such as energy, transport, and trade. The Iranian Consulate General in Mary is one of the republic's diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, along with the embassy in Ashgabat.
