A meeting between Turkmenistan's Minister of Education, J. Gurbangeldiyev, and Georgia's Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took place in Tbilisi. The meeting was part of the Turkmen President's state visit to Georgia, according to the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
During the discussion of expanding prospects for cooperation in education, science, and youth policy, the ministers paid particular attention to the development of direct ties between higher education institutions of the two countries, academic mobility of students and faculty, and joint scientific research, conferences, internships, and educational programs.
Promising areas of cooperation were identified as medicine, energy, oil and gas, architecture and construction, transport, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, STEAM education, and cybersecurity.

During the official visit, the following bilateral documents in the field of education were signed:
Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia on cooperation in the field of education.
Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation between the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva and the Tbilisi State Conservatory named after Vano Sarajishvili;
Memorandum of Cooperation between the Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the legal entity of public law “Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University”;
Memorandum of Understanding between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and the Georgian Technical University;
Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the Georgian Technical University;
Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan and the Batumi State Maritime Academy.
These documents are aimed at strengthening the legal framework for cooperation, developing inter-university ties, expanding academic exchanges, and implementing joint educational and scientific projects, the source notes.
As a reminder, during the visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tbilisi, a package of 20 documents on Turkmen-Georgian cooperation was signed.
