The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan will open five polling stations for the State Duma elections

The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan is organizing five polling stations for the State Duma elections, which will be held this September. This was announced by Pyotr Shchukin, Russia's Chargé d'Affaires in Turkmenistan, according to RIA Novosti.

"Polls will be set up in all five regions of Turkmenistan. Voting will be available at polling stations in Ashgabat, Turkmenbashy, Turkmenabat, Mary, and Dashoguz," the diplomat said.

According to him, information about voting times and election organization in these cities will be posted later.

Russian citizens located in Turkmenistan will be able to participate in the vote upon presentation of a Russian passport confirming their right to vote.

Elections to the IX State Duma were scheduled by decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The State Duma is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia. It adopts federal laws, approves the federal budget, and consents to the president's appointment of the Prime Minister. The Duma consists of 450 deputies elected for five years: half from single-mandate constituencies and the other half from party lists.
