French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated the Spanish national football team on their victory over the French team in the World Cup semi-final.

On Tuesday, the Spanish national team defeated France in the semifinal match of the World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The match in Arlington, Texas, ended 2–0 in favor of the Spaniards.

"Congratulations to Spain on advancing to the next round. Thank you to the French national team for selflessly defending our country's colors. Today's defeat is tough, but this is a young team with a bright future," Macron wrote on his X account.

The 2026 World Cup will conclude on July 19. England and Argentina will face each other in the other semifinal on Wednesday.
