President Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan highly values relations with Uzbekistan

Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, who has arrived in Ashgabat for a visit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The Head of State emphasized that this visit would open up new opportunities for the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

"Our countries cooperate effectively within international organizations such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Economic Cooperation Organization, as evidenced by the mutual support for initiatives aimed at strengthening universal peace and ensuring sustainable development," the President noted.

Highlighting the successful cooperation within regional structures—particularly the various "Central Asia +" formats—Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to the Uzbek side for its unwavering support of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy course, which is based on the principles of positive neutrality.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the comprehensive expansion of relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan. The trade and economic sector—including strategic areas such as energy, transport, and logistics—traditionally serves as the primary focus of cooperation.

A special role in coordinating efforts in this area is assigned to the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Cultural Cooperation.

The importance of further developing cooperation through various cultural events was also emphasized.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan highly values its relations with Uzbekistan and reaffirmed the intention to continue developing fruitful cooperation.
