Trade turnover between Armenia and Turkmenistan increased by more than 60% by the end of 2025, reaching approximately 36,5 million USD. This was stated by Armenian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Arsen Avagyan in an interview with the online publication Turkmenportal.
"While trade turnover was approximately 21,1 million USD in 2022 and remained roughly the same in 2023, it exceeded 22,3 million USD in 2024. By the end of 2025, bilateral trade turnover will reach approximately 36,5 million USD, demonstrating significant growth," he said.
According to the ambassador, the positive trend continues this year: by the end of January–April 2026, trade turnover between Armenia and Turkmenistan had already reached 17,5 million USD, indicating continued high activity in the trade and economic sphere.
Avagyan noted that the growth in trade turnover in recent years indicates that economic relations between the countries have reached a qualitatively new level, and the existing potential allows us to expect a further increase in mutual trade volumes and the implementation of new joint projects.
"I would like to note with satisfaction the holding of a joint Armenian-Turkmen business forum in Yerevan on January 15, 2026, which has become a new platform for contacts and cooperation between businessmen and the private sector of the two countries," the diplomat said.
However, according to the ambassador, existing indicators do not yet fully reflect the real potential for cooperation between the two countries. Significant prospects are opening up in the energy sector, transport and logistics, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, textiles, agriculture, food and processing, high technology, as well as digitalization and innovation. Avagyan noted that particular importance is attached to expanding cooperation in the transport and communications sector and utilizing the transit capabilities of the two states, which is in line with modern trends in strengthening regional interconnectedness.
