The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max has become part of the official U.S. time capsule; the organization America250 included the device in a collection intended to reflect how America remembers itself in 2026.

A capsule containing an iPhone 17 Pro Max was sealed by America250 and will not be opened until 2276. It holds a sort of "snapshot" of the modern United States.

The capsule was interred on July 4 at Independence Historical Park in Philadelphia as part of the nation's 250th-anniversary celebrations. According to the organizers, the iPhone was chosen as a symbol of American innovation for the semiquincentennial year (the 250th anniversary of independence).

As America250 explains, the iPhone 17 Pro Max symbolizes advancements in portable computing, photography, and communication. Few consumer products have transformed the way people communicate, work, and create as significantly as the Apple smartphone.

One can only hope that the battery was actually removed from the phone.
