The customs services of Turkmenistan and Korea agreed to sign a memorandum at the Seoul summit

On June 25, a working meeting was held via videoconference between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Korea Customs Service (KCS). The talks were held in preparation for the First Republic of Korea–Central Asia Summit, scheduled for September in Seoul.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a draft bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on the protection of intellectual property rights at the border. The document aims to create a legal framework for cooperation that ensures the legality of the cross-border movement of goods and protects the economic interests of both countries.

Participants in the talks noted that the current dialogue builds on the experience of bilateral cooperation that began with the ministerial meeting in Busan in 2018, as well as training events in 2019 on risk management and customs value.

The parties expressed their intention to finalize the text of the Memorandum as soon as possible with a view to signing it at the upcoming summit.
