Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, held a series of meetings with foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
During negotiations with the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Turkmenistan, Narine Saakyan, the parties noted the fruitfulness of the long-standing cooperation between the country and UNDP. Atabayeva thanked the organization's Permanent Representative for his personal contribution to strengthening this cooperation. Saakyan, in turn, confirmed the UN's readiness to support Turkmenistan's constructive initiatives. The successful implementation of joint projects in socioeconomic development, which contribute to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals, was particularly noted. Atabayeva also reported that the foundation is actively collaborating with the UNICEF office in Turkmenistan based on a memorandum signed last December.
At a meeting with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Ji Shumin, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Atabayeva expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for organizing the Foundation's delegation's visit to Beijing last August, which resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The ambassador conveyed greetings from Li Bin, head of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and Shen Yueyue, vice chair of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing cooperation in children's health.
During talks with Ambassador of the State of Palestine Rana Abu Hijleh, Atabayeva emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of peace and sustainable development, which are inextricably linked to the well-being of children. The diplomat expressed gratitude to the Turkmen leadership for the humanitarian aid provided to the Palestinian people through the fund and praised its activities both domestically and internationally. Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral humanitarian cooperation.
