Rahman Gurbanmyradov has been appointed the new mufti of Turkmenistan

Rahman Gurbanmyradov, who previously served as Chairman of the Ahal velayat Administration and Chief Imam of the velayat, has been appointed the new Mufti of Turkmenistan. The corresponding resolution was adopted at a meeting of the Council of Members of the Mufti's Administration of Turkmenistan, held at the Turkmenbashy Spirituality Mosque in Gypchak, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The event was attended by members of the Council of Elders of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.

The former mufti, Yalkap Hojagulyev, has been relieved of his post.

At the same time, a number of other religious appointments were renewed. The post of Chairman of the Ahal velayat Administration and Chief Imam of the velayat was taken by Vepamuhammet Ishangulyev, who previously headed the Ashgabat City Administration and served as the capital's acting chief imam.

In turn, Guychgeldi Agayev, who previously held the position of chief imam of the Ashgabat mosque "Ärtogrul Gazy", was appointed the new chairman of the Ashgabat city administration and the chief imam of the city.
