Turkmen master jeweler Govher Nuryeva took third place in the "Golden Thread and Jewelry" competition, held in Bukhara in May of this year.
The competition organizers ceremoniously awarded her one thousand US dollars and the Competition Cup, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen jeweler submitted approximately 60 of her works to the competition. Among them were necklaces, pendants, earrings, bracelets, and rings, all crafted in the traditional style. Govher uses antique jewelry samples and enriches them with her own creative touches. The image of blooming tulips from the Turkmen steppe has become her signature piece.
As Govher says, jewelry making, carpet weaving and embroidery are interconnected. The patterns in jewelry are similar to those found in embroidery and carpets.
Govher Nuryeva has been in the profession for almost 30 years. She is also a member of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan and frequently exhibits her work at national and international exhibitions.
This is Govher's second participation in the competition, which is held in Uzbekistan every two years. She also participated in 2024 and was awarded a UNESCO Competition Winner certificate. Last December, she also participated in a crafts festival in India, where she received a special certificate.
