The first-ever meeting of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation began in Ashgabat today. This meeting, the first in this format, is a historic event.
A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Economy Vladimir Simonyak is participating in the meeting from the Slovak Republic.
The meeting was preceded by a meeting of the chairmen of the Joint Commission, which emphasized that the negotiations planned in Ashgabat are of particular importance for taking interstate economic relations to a new level.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports, the Slovak Republic, as one of the economic centers of Europe, is a country with diverse opportunities and economic prospects that are of interest to Turkmenistan.
The opening of the first meeting of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission then took place, attended by the leaders and members of the Commission from both countries.
The parties confirmed their readiness to further develop multifaceted and fruitful cooperation, including in the areas of trade, investment, and business structures. The importance of considering the possibility of implementing joint projects that will contribute to the expansion of interaction and further strengthening of economic and investment partnerships between economic entities of both countries was noted.
The event then included working and bilateral meetings attended by members of the Commission, heads and representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan. Issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, fuel and energy sectors, construction, transport, communications and information technology, agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare and medical science, education, culture, sports, and tourism were discussed.
The meeting will continue until June 18.
During their visit to Ashgabat, the Slovak guests were treated to a cultural program and a tour of the capital's landmarks.
