In connection with the start of the mass harvest, the State Fire Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan has issued a reminder to harvesters about mandatory fire safety requirements.
The agency specifies that all agricultural machinery used in harvesting must be equipped with primary fire extinguishing equipment, and exhaust pipes must be equipped with spark arrestors, which must be regularly cleaned of carbon deposits. Machine parking, refueling stations, and welding areas must be located at least 100 meters from crop fields, within a plowed perimeter. Protective strips at least 30 meters wide and ploughed to a depth of 25–30 centimeters are required along grain fields and roadsides.
The fire service also reminds everyone to avoid burning straw and other plant debris directly in fields during harvesting. Grain threshing floors must be kept at least 50 meters away from buildings and at least 100 meters from crops. Electrical equipment in grain storage facilities should be moved outside, with wiring installed in steel pipes and lighting fixtures protected by glass covers.
During the entire harvest period, drivers and machine operators must undergo regular training on fire safety rules. In areas where harvesting work is being carried out, a tractor with a harrow and a tanker should be kept ready for prompt response in the event of a fire.
If a fire is detected, the State Fire Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan urges you to immediately call "01" or "001" from a mobile phone.
