Written monuments of Turkmen culture are being digitized – TÜRKTAV

Unique written monuments of Turkmen culture, stored in Turkish archives, are being converted into digital format. This was announced by Asel Lakhaeva, Executive Director of the Turkic History and Culture Foundation (TÜRKTAV) and a doctor of science from Kazakhstan, at the international conference "Science, Technology, and Innovative Technologies in the Renaissance of a New Era of a Powerful State" in Ashgabat.

"The most valuable written monuments of Turkmen culture are scattered across leading global centers—from Paris to Oxford. In Türkiye, these unique works are carefully preserved in the archives of the Topkapi Palace Museum and are being digitized in the collections of the TÜRKTAV Foundation," the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan quotes her as saying.

According to Lakhaeva, the work is being conducted using the Turcology.com platform, which enables the implementation of large-scale digital history and restoration projects. She expressed confidence that the creation of a unified cultural ecosystem for the digital age will not only strengthen academic ties between countries but also serve as a foundation for new joint projects.

Speaking about the importance of historical memory, Lakhaeva emphasized that history is not an archival document, but a living guide for the future. "Historical ties between Türkiye and Turkmenistan are being actively restored not only through physical means, but also through the construction of digital bridges," she noted.

The forum was held in a hybrid format at the Oguz han University of Engineering and Technology. It was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by representatives of the scientific community from Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Malaysia, Italy, Türkiye, Bulgaria, the Republic of Korea, Pakistan, and other countries. The conference was timed to coincide with Science Day of Turkmenistan, celebrated on June 12.
