Turkmen fighter Abasov explained why he turned down his UFC debut

Turkmen mixed martial artist Abbas Abasov declined an offer to make his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 119, which will take place on June 20 in Las Vegas, USA. He announced this on his social media page.

According to the athlete, the decision was made after consultation with his coach, manager, and father. The main reasons for his withdrawal were injuries sustained in a previous fight, as well as sinusitis. "The doctor said it wouldn't go away. It could get worse," Abasov explained.

The athlete also noted the high level of his proposed opponent, Brazilian Vinicius Oliveira, and emphasized that he doesn't intend to enter the octagon unprepared. "I want to enter prepared, make a name for myself, and raise the Turkmen flag," he added.

Earlier, on May 16, Abasov defeated Brazilian Regivaldo Carvalho by knockout in the second round at LFA 232 in Connecticut.

Abasov, 28, has a professional mixed martial arts record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
