Today, Turkmenistan celebrates World Environment Day. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated his compatriots and environmentalists on the occasion.

"I sincerely congratulate you on World Environment Day, widely celebrated in our country! Having made living in harmony with nature their primary goal, our people always demonstrate genuine concern for the environment. In the year "Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses," our Fatherland is also successfully implementing the programs and strategies we have adopted to transform the country into a blooming garden and ensure environmental well-being," the Address states.

The main goal of the state policy in the field of ecology is to create favorable conditions for the life of the people, the rational use of natural resources, the preservation and enrichment of flora and fauna, a careful attitude towards the original, unique and beautiful nature and its preservation for future generations in an even more flourishing form. Cooperation with international organizations plays a major role in maintaining global sustainable development and environmental well-being.

In this regard, Turkmenistan also actively participates in the global community's efforts to address environmental issues and implements a number of programs that are important for the entire planet in the area of environmental protection and addressing ecological problems. By acceding to dozens of UN environmental conventions, the country demonstrates a thoughtful approach to sustainable development.

"Turkmenistan's official accession to the Global Methane Commitment as a party to the United Nations Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as the effective activities we are carrying out within its framework at the international and national levels, serve as clear evidence of our effective actions in combating climate change and its consequences," the President emphasized.

At sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and at high-level meetings on sustainable development, Turkmenistan also put forward initiatives in the areas of environmental protection, food abundance, and disaster risk reduction, and is successfully implementing them.

"In order to further enhance the beauty of our unique natural environment, we will continue to successfully continue our work in this area," the head of state concluded, wishing everyone good health, family well-being, and great success in preserving and further enriching Turkmenistan's natural resources, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
