Today, World Bicycle Day is widely celebrated in Turkmenistan. Mass bike rides and festive events are held with great enthusiasm across the country.

This international holiday, which emphasizes the importance of universal human values such as health, solidarity, friendship, and commitment to the principles of humanism, offers great opportunities for the widespread promotion of sport as a messenger of peace and a symbol of establishing effective cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust and understanding.

In honor of the holiday and the cycling movement in general, as is known, a unique monument, “Bicycle,” was erected in Ashgabat.

The cycling competition facility, commissioned in 2017, was built to international standards and can host competitions of various levels.

The Guinness World Records recognized the largest cycling training session, the longest cycling race, and the longest continuous cycling ride, held in Ashgabat in 2018 and 2019.

Let us remind that in 2018, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring June 3 as "World Bicycle Day" and a Resolution on "Integrating the Mass Use of Bicycles into Public Transport Systems for Sustainable Development" in 2022.
