A resident of Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa province accidentally wounded five people, including three small children, after opening fire on a snake with a hunting rifle, TRT Haber reported.

The incident occurred in the Siverek district. A villager named Ustyuntash spotted a snake near his house and grabbed his gun. Not only did the shots miss their target, but they also showered nearby people with shot and stone fragments.

Gendarmerie and medical teams responded to the scene. All victims were hospitalized at the Siverek State Hospital; their condition is considered satisfactory.

The fate of the snake itself has not been determined.
