Turkmen freestyle wrestler Shaapbas Esgerov won bronze at the Asian Junior Championships held in Da Nang, Vietnam. He competed in the 80 kg weight class.

In the fight for third place, Esgerov defeated Japanese athlete Yusei Nagata with a score of 9:3.

In the final bout, Iranian wrestler Amirali Mohammad Ferasati won the gold medal, defeating Indian wrestler Mandeep Mandeep 10-0. Kazakhstani wrestler Adilbek Yerbolatov won the second bronze medal, defeating Tajikistan's Nasim Hojaev 12-1.

Turkmenistan's national team consisted of 10 athletes – six in freestyle wrestling and four in Greco-Roman wrestling.
