Students from the Imdatbot robotics education center successfully represented Turkmenistan at the Robotek Grand Tournament Astana 2026 international championship, which took place in Astana from May 12 to 14 and brought together more than 300 participants from 10 countries.
For the Imdatbot team, this trip was not only a chance to participate in a prestigious competition but also an important step toward new educational opportunities for Turkmen schoolchildren. Participants gained international experience, made new connections, and saw how knowledge in robotics can form the foundation for future development.
Following the championship, schoolgirl Leysan Jumageldyeva won a free education scholarship to the prestigious Kazakh-British Technical University. Tigran Melkumyan and Nuryagdy Bayriev also achieved significant results, winning the "Innovative Technologies" category.

Turkmenistan was represented at the competition by eight Imdatbot students and two mentors. Participating in the international tournament allowed the students not only to test their knowledge and skills in practice but also to see how STEM education is developing in other countries, meet teams from the CIS, and gain valuable experience working in a competitive international environment.
A separate outcome of the trip was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Imdatbot and the tournament organizers, the Kazakhstani company LLP "Gruppa Robotek." The document opens new prospects for the joint development of robotics competitions and educational projects, and strengthens international cooperation in STEM education.
The team also received an official invitation to participate in a world-class competition in Uzbekistan. This will be the next stage in the international development of young roboticists and another opportunity to showcase the potential of schoolchildren from Turkmenistan internationally.
The Turkmen delegation included group leader Yaroslav Glotov, mentor Aynur Dovletova, and participants Shamuhammet Kuliev, Leysan Jumageldyeva, Nuryagdy Bayriev, Ilhan Nepesov, Daniyar Permanov, Tigran Melkumyan, Amir Rakhimov, and Emir Kuliev.
The success of the Imdatbot team demonstrates that robotics is actively developing in Turkmenistan and opening up new opportunities for children—from participating in international competitions to gaining educational opportunities at the region's leading universities.
