Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in Ashgabat. He was met at the steps of his plane by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin, according to the Russian Government's website.

During his visit, Mikhail Mishustin met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During the talks, the parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, including industry, energy, and logistics. Particular attention was paid to the North-South Transport Corridor, which opens up new trade opportunities in the markets of China, India, the Persian Gulf, the Asia-Pacific region, and Africa.

"I hope that our visit will provide further impetus for the development of our relations—not only trade and economic, but also the cultural ones that bind our friendly peoples," Mishustin said following the meeting.
