Uzbekistan opened a mosque in Kazakhstan's Turkestan region

During a working visit to Kazakhstan, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, attended the opening of a mosque in the city of Turkestan, built by the Uzbek side.

The religious complex, covering a total area of over 7 hectares, is designed to accommodate over 5 thousand worshippers at any one time. The architectural ensemble includes four 70-meter-tall minarets and a three-story main building with a main prayer hall and traditional iwans.

The building's appearance is inspired by Islamic and Eastern architectural traditions: the design combines traditional ornamentation, Eastern domes, and modern construction techniques. The interiors are decorated with elements of Islamic calligraphy and decorative art.

The adjacent 4,2-hectare area is being landscaped, with green areas, pedestrian paths, recreation areas, decorative elements, fountains, and lighting systems.
