The National Leader of the Turkmen people held a telephone conversation with the President of Russia

During his visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

During the conversation, the parties highly praised the current state of bilateral cooperation. Putin thanked the National Leader for his contribution to strengthening Turkmen-Russian ties and conveyed greetings to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, emphasized that strengthening the strategic partnership with Russia is one of Turkmenistan's foreign policy priorities, and conveyed good wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The interlocutors noted the dynamic development of cooperation in various fields based on the principles of friendship, trust, and mutual respect. Trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as science, education, and healthcare, occupy a special place on the bilateral cooperation agenda.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of international events under Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS. Putin is expected to attend the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council scheduled for October 2026.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People arrived in Kazan to participate in the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum-2026."
