Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree instructing regional, city, and district administrations to ceremoniously present World War II veterans with cash and valuable gifts on behalf of the head of state, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
The document recognizes the exceptional heroism of those who fought in the war, the dedication of women who worked on the home front, and their contribution to the patriotic education of the younger generation and the strengthening of national unity.
The ceremonies are timed to coincide with the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
