The waters off the coast of Oman have turned red due to a massive krill die-off

Coastal waters in southwestern Oman have taken on a reddish tint due to the mass death of small crustaceans, according to Siyah Mohammed, a local resident of Salalah, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, a large number of dead krill were concentrated off the coast of the city of Mirbat, located approximately 50 kilometers from Salalah, which caused the change in the color of the water.

The Muscat Daily reported that local authorities have begun cleaning beaches to prevent potential damage to human health and the environment. Authorities clarified that the marine life die-off is due to changes in temperature and oxygen levels in the water, not pollution.
