Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan are taking part in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held in Istanbul from April 15 to 19.
The Assembly's agenda includes such important issues as the creation of instruments to strengthen global peace, building a sustainable economy, protecting human rights, and the impact of modern technology on democratic systems, as well as compliance with international law, the integration of digital technologies into legislative activity, and environmental diplomacy.
The delegate of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan also spoke at the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, organized as part of the Assembly. In her speech, she highlighted the fundamental changes being implemented in Turkmenistan to protect women's rights and interests and enhance their role in public administration and socio-political life.
In this regard, the improvement of legislation on state guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Turkmenistan, as well as the implementation of national plans, were noted.
It was also emphasized that the number of women in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, local government bodies, and government administration bodies is consistently increasing.
It was noted that Turkmenistan's initiative to declare 2028 the "Year of International Law" will be an important step in protecting women's rights globally and fostering a culture of peace, according to the Mejlis website.
