Mishustin will attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Ashgabat on May 22

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will attend a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Ashgabat on May 22. This was reported by Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin in an article published in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" to mark the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"We look forward to the visits to Turkmenistan on May 22 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and on October 9 by Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in meetings of the Commonwealth of Independent States," the diplomat wrote.

Earlier, a signing ceremony for a protocol on coordinating preparations for the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The document was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhametdurdyev and Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Denis Trefilov. The protocol aims to coordinate organizational and substantive matters related to the meeting's preparations.

The CIS Heads of State Summit will take place on October 9 in Turkmenbashy on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. Volynkin previously announced Russian President Vladimir Putin's participation.

Turkmenistan will chair the CIS Council of Heads of State, the Council of Heads of Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Economic Council, and several other bodies in 2026. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will serve as co-chairs in 2026.
