Young athletes from Turkmenistan continue their focused preparation for the Children of Asia International Sports Games, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk in 2027. The latest stage of this work was the open short track speed skating championship for sports schools, held at the ice arena of the Winter Sports Complex, according to the Zolotoy Vek (Golden Age) publication.
The competition covered the 500- and 1000-meter distances in two categories – for boys and girls.
Emmanuel Gurbangulyev won the 1000-meter race among boys, with Danatar Mukhamov taking second. Kerim Arslanov won the 500-meter race in the same category, with Atajan Ataniyazov taking silver.
Meryem Hudaikuliyeva finished first in the 500-meter race among girls, with Ayjan Bekiyeva and Nurana Ataniyazova taking second and third, respectively.
Aykhanum Gulamaleva, head coach of the Turkmenistan short track team, emphasized that the Children of Asia Games are the team's primary focus. "Our athletes are very promising. Thanks to their rigorous training, we have big plans, the most important of which is to perform well in Krasnoyarsk," she said.
The Children of Asia International Sports Games have been held since 1996 and bring together young athletes from countries across the Asia-Pacific region. Turkmenistan traditionally participates in the competition, viewing it as an important platform for the development of youth sports.
