Chairman of the Board of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Jeong Won-ju visited Turkmenistan from June 26 to 30 to discuss new business opportunities and strengthen the company's presence in the Central Asian market.
During the visit, Jeong Won-ju met with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. They discussed the prospects of upcoming projects to develop gas fields and petrochemical plants, the possibility of cooperation in the railway sector, construction of the subway and high-rise buildings.
Also during the visit, the head of Daewoo E&C met with Deputy Prime Minister for Construction, Energy and Industry Baymyrat Annamammedov to express gratitude to Turkmenistan for the offer to participate in new petrochemical plant projects. He announced the company's interest in promoting a number of infrastructure initiatives that support Turkmenistan's economic growth, Nebit-Gaz reports with reference to a company statement.
Next, Jeong Won-ju met with Deputy Prime Minister for Oil and Gas Issues Batyr Amanov and Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengaz" Maksat Babayev to discuss Daewoo E&C's participation in new projects in the oil and gas industry.
Jeong Won-ju also held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister for Finance and Economy Hojamurat Geldimyradov and South Korean Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ji Kyu Taek, discussing the diversification of Korean business entry into the Turkmen market.
As a representative of Daewoo E&C stated, Turkmenistan is a strategic market for the company, which plans to expand its business portfolio and accelerate localization. Daewoo E&C aims to strengthen its position in the region through continuous interaction with management and network building, the company said in a statement.
