Representative of Turkmenistan Kadyrberdi Chalyev from Ashgabat successfully performed at the International Billiards World Cup “Stavropol Krai Governor’s Cup”, winning a bronze medal in the men’s category.
The prestigious tournament was held from June 23 to 30 in Stavropol under the auspices of the International Pyramid Confederation, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Billiard Sports Federation of Russia and the Billiard Sports Federation of the Stavropol Territory.
Turkmen athlete Kadyrberdi Chalyev demonstrated a high level of play in the Combined Pyramid discipline, reaching the semi-finals of the tournament. In the semi-final match, which was broadcast on the Match TV channel, the Ashgabat billiard player met with future champion Iosif Abramov from Rostov-on-Don, but lost to his opponent with a score of 8:3. Despite the defeat, Chalyev was awarded a bronze medal along with Andrey Shagaev from Moscow, who also lost in his semi-final match.
The Turkmenistan national team was represented at the tournament by 12 participants, headed by the Chairman of the Billiards Federation of Turkmenistan, Batyr Ashirov.
