The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Khazar University of Azerbaijan, organized a scientific symposium in Baku on the theme “The Past, Present and Future of the Oghuz Turkmen”, which was held on May 26-27 in honor of the announcement of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, scientists from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, as well as Turkmens from Türkiye, Iraq and Uzbekistan took part in the event.
The symposium covered the topic of the origin of the Turkmen. The speakers spoke about the Oghuz, one of the most ancient Turkic peoples, emphasizing that the ancestors of the Turkmen founded large states in ancient times.
It was noted that despite the difficult periods of their history, the Turkmen have always promoted a culture of peaceful, neutral and friendly relations. Today, these principles are reflected in the policy of positive neutrality, which is based on the ideals of humanism and peacefulness inherited from our ancestors.
Also within the framework of this symposium, a presentation of the book by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Magtymguly – Thinker of the World” took place, the source notes.
