President of Turkmenistan orders to strengthen security measures at UN conference in Avaza

During an extended visiting government meeting in the Balkan velayat, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave an order to ensure strict observance of law and order and fire safety rules during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This order was addressed to the Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Begench Gundogdyev, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan writes.

At the meeting, Gundogdyev presented a report on the preparatory activities carried out by the country's military and law enforcement agencies in anticipation of the international forum. The President, having heard the report, emphasized the importance of organizing the conference at a high level while observing all necessary security measures.

The third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries is scheduled for August 5-8 this year and will be held in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone, located on the Caspian Sea coast. The forum is expected to bring together representatives from 32 landlocked developing countries, delegates from 47 small island states, high-level representatives from 49 least developed countries, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
