Interdepartmental consultations on climate subsidies were held in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of government agencies, public associations and the private sector.
As reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, mechanisms of investment strategies for agricultural innovations and modern environmentally friendly technologies in the process of adaptation to the consequences of climate change were discussed.
The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) within the framework of the project to promote readiness and prepare a cooperation platform with the Green Climate Fund, its name is “Enhancing the potential of Turkmenistan to access climate finance through capacity building and strategic frameworks.”
During the meeting, overview presentations were given on the activities of Turkmenistan with the participation of international organizations in the field of adaptation of the economy to the transformation of the climate situation.
During the work in groups, a priority list of climate-resistant technologies, the need for their financial support, the principles of work of investors, including the Green Climate Fund, were identified.
Also during the meeting, issues of strengthening partnerships between government agencies, development organizations, private investors, and the need for an integrated approach were touched upon.
