The first half marathon with humanoid robots took place in China. The event in Beijing brought together about 12 thousand regular runners and more than 20 robotic participants who covered the classic half marathon distance of 21 kilometers, Mail.ru reports with reference to Life.ru.
The leader among the robots was “TianGong 1.2 max” – a humanoid machine 1.8 meters high and weighing 52 kilograms. Despite a fall during the race, which required intervention, the robot finished with a time of 2 hours 40 minutes.
Among people, the best results were shown by athletes from Ethiopia: a man with a result of 1 hour 2 minutes and a woman with a time of 1 hour 11 minutes.
The robots competed on a separate track, without intersecting with people. The machines varied significantly in size: they weighed from 17 to 88 kilograms and were 75 centimeters to 1.8 meters tall. One of the participants, the robot “Songyan dongli — N2” (height 1.2 meters, weight 30 kg), maintained an average speed of 8.28 km/h throughout the race.
