President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia Hussein Al-Musallam and First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Johan bin Hamad Al Thani. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan attaches priority importance to the development of physical culture and sports. The country carries out systematic work to promote a healthy lifestyle and involve young people in sports. Strategic decisions are made at the state level to improve the sports industry and expand international cooperation in this area.
Turkmenistan pays special attention to cooperation with international sports organizations. Modernization of specialized infrastructure, creation of optimal conditions for athletes and organization of international competitions are key areas of the country’s sports policy. The current negotiations are intended to bring cooperation in this area to a qualitatively new level.
The head of state emphasized the significant role of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Association of National Olympic Committees in the development of sports and the promotion of Olympic values on a global scale, expressing confidence that the visit of the leaders of these organizations will contribute to the intensification of interaction and the implementation of joint initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to Hussein Al-Musallam and Sheikh Johan bin Hamad Al Thani for their significant personal contribution to strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the Olympic Council of Asia, as well as for supporting Ashgabat’s initiatives in the sports sphere.
