Today, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, TDH reports.
During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the speaker of the upper house of the Parliament of the Russian Federation for her significant personal contribution to strengthening friendly relations and strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
Valentina Matviyenko thanked for the high assessment of her activities and congratulated the Chairperson of the Halk Maslahaty on the upcoming holiday of Novruz. She confirmed Russia's commitment to deepening trusting and mutually beneficial contacts between the peoples of the two states.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, noting the key role of parliamentarians in the development of interstate dialogue. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties in the fields of education, science, healthcare and culture.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people invited the Russian delegation to take part in the conference «Year of Peace and Trust: Developing International Activities for the Sake of Children», which will be held on March 29 and will be organized by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
At the end of the telephone conversation, the interlocutors expressed confidence that the high level of mutual understanding will continue to serve as a solid foundation for the development of a constructive partnership between the two countries.
