Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar, who arrived in the country to participate in the International Conference “International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development,” TDH reports.
During the meeting, Bayraktar conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the head of state and noted that Türkiye attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the results of the international forum will give impetus to the expansion of interstate cooperation in the energy sector.
The parties emphasized that Turkmen-Turkish relations are the basis for the successful implementation of priority tasks in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Turkey is currently one of the largest trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan.
The head of state confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further intensify partnership with Turkey in the energy sector. One of the most important issues was the supply of Turkmen gas to Turkey and then to other interested states.
The President also noted that the construction of a combined cycle power plant will create an opportunity to export Turkmen electricity via the Caspian Sea to neighboring countries, including Turkey.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate cooperation for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.
