On March 17, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a conference on the “Role of Women in Strengthening Global Peace and Security”.
The conference was attended by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan Chinar Rustemova, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Saakyan, Head of the United Nations Children’s Fund Representative Office in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna, Chairperson of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, the Central Council of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, and members of the Mejlis.
The speakers emphasized the importance of the activities carried out to develop and strengthen cooperation with countries of the world and authoritative international organizations.
The conference participants spoke about the opportunities created in the state within the framework of multilateral structures for the protection of motherhood and childhood, and discussed issues of increasing the effectiveness of cooperation in this area with UN agencies and programs.
The recognition of the exemplary work carried out by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care in solving humanitarian issues at the international level was noted.
In this direction, great importance is attached to the joint work plan for 2025 signed between the Mejlis and UNICEF, the Mejlis website reports.
