The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova met with the delegation of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights led by Mahamane Cissé-Gouron, Head of the Department for Support of the Human Rights Council and Treaty Bodies.
According to the press service of the Mejlis, during the meeting the parties discussed the current cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN, as well as the prospects for its further development. Gulmanova emphasized the importance of working with international organizations, especially with UN structures, to fulfill the country’s obligations in the field of human rights and improve national legislation.
The UN representatives positively assessed the cooperation with Turkmenistan and expressed their readiness to continue it. Particular attention was paid to joint activities with the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan to ensure the fulfillment of international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law.
