On Monday, at Toronto International Airport, a Delta Air Lines CRJ-900, flight 4819 from Minneapolis, flipped over during landing, snob.ru reports, with reference to NBC News.
There were 80 people on board at the time of the incident, including 76 passengers and four crew members. Of the passengers, 22 were Canadian citizens, while the rest were of various nationalities. The incident left 18 people injured, but airport officials say no serious injuries were reported. Two of the injured were airlifted to a trauma center, while the rest were taken to medical facilities by land.
According to CTV, the likely cause of the incident was extreme weather conditions. Despite the fact that the runways were properly prepared after heavy snowfall, the wind speed reached 32-48 meters per second at the time of landing.
The Canadian Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Transport Minister Sean Duffy has also joined the investigation into the causes of the crash.
