A press conference of Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok was held in the Ashgabat residence, where key aspects of bilateral cooperation between the countries were highlighted and the results of the past year were summed up.
The main event was the announcement of the start of Turkmen gas supplies to Turkey via the swap route through Iran, which opens a new page in the energy cooperation between the two countries. As part of the press conference, the ambassador also presented an overview of joint activities implemented in 2024. A particularly significant event for the Turkish ambassador was the presentation of the jubilee medal “300th Anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi”, which, according to him, was one of the happiest days of the past year.
During the meeting, the ambassador touched upon a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the participation of Turkish companies in the second stage of the construction of the city of Arkadag. The upcoming international visits of representatives of both countries were also discussed.
Demirok presented statistics on visa issues, talking about the number of visas issued to Turkmen citizens and the total number of visitors to Turkey in 2024. The current volume of trade between the countries was announced. Considerable attention was paid to cooperation in the fields of education, culture and energy.
During the press conference, Turkmen journalists had the opportunity to ask questions about the gas supply mechanism, the work of the embassy and its presence on social networks.
The event ended on a solemn note: the ambassador thanked those present for their participation, after which a joint photo session and the traditional cutting of the festive cake, decorated with the national flags of Turkmenistan and Turkey, took place.
